Managers manage. Which are you?
The basis of management is control. We manage cash by controlling what we spend just as we manage our weight by controlling what we eat (or not). We manage our workload by deciding where we spend our time. When someone tells you "sorry, I don't have time" they are actually saying "sorry, you're not important enough". This is management.
People cannot be managed because they inherently reject the control it implies.
Leadership fills this gap. Great leaders inspire you to excel in your natural environment. They motivate through meaningful work and hold you accountable. They provide just enough guidance, perhaps some constraints for efficiency, and the authority to make decisions. They create safe spaces for you to fail and learn. Leaders invest in your individual growth and development.
Leaders grow new leaders.
I'm a photographer. If you're a leader, I want to take your headshot.
